Internships

Through our internship program at Scholastic Canada, we strive to provide meaningful work experience with paid on-the-job coaching and mentoring in a professional business environment within the children’s book publishing and distribution field. Generally, our internships range from a period of 6-12 weeks depending on the needs of the division hosting the intern. When applicable, we can accommodate a certain duration for an internship if it is being used as college/ university credit. Currently, our internship program runs annually from May-August. To see our available internship opportunities, please visit our Careers page. If there are no current internship opportunities posted, applicants can send their resumes to resumes@scholastic.ca for future consideration. All resumes will be kept on file for a period of one year.

It is our hope that we can provide an enriching experience where our interns can: develop a deeper understanding of the publishing world, develop their skills and gain new experiences, learn more about their specific interests as they relate to publishing, create a network of contacts, and/or gain school credit (if applicable).

Our internships are open to anyone who is passionate about reading and literature and wants to gain experience in the publishing industry. Although little or no related work experience is necessary, a successful intern applicant should have the following competencies:

  • Robust organizational and communication skills
  • Detail oriented mindset
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple on-going priorities
  • Ability to take direction from others
  • Willingness to be part of a team
  • Positive and professional attitude
  • Comfort with asking questions
  • Proficiency in the following Microsoft Office applications:
    • Word
    • PowerPoint
    • Outlook
    • Excel

Above all, the main requirement for an internship at Scholastic is a love for reading and enthusiasm for children’s literature!

At Scholastic Canada, we embrace and celebrate diversity in our people, products and ideas. A diverse workforce and inclusive, supportive workplace are central to our success, enabling us to ensure that our books are reflective of the children and families we serve and to deepen our relationships with customers, colleagues, and communities. We welcome all applicants, and strongly encourage individuals from groups who are marginalized and underrepresented in the publishing industry to apply.

Thank you for your interest in Scholastic Canada’s Internship Program.
