Beauty is sweet but is not a pretty face (her name is the joke of her life), and Prince Riley is nice but all arms and legs. Both are used to playing second fiddle to their older (more talented and good-looking) siblings. After a fateful meeting in the woods with a witch who turns Riley into a beast (and makes his parents and brother invisible), his family has two months to find a girl who will willingly dance with him or the spell will remain.

After Beauty's father picks a rose from the castle grounds, Riley's family makes Riley demand that the man deliver one of his daughters as punishment. Beauty volunteers, and after arriving at the castle, which seems to be haunted, she and Riley eventually befriend each other and come together to thwart the evil witch so that she can't turn anyone else into a beast.
