Monthly letter from Kathy Lasky

Dear Ga'Hoole Readers:

Well, a few signs of Spring or as they say at the Great Ga'hoole Tree, the time of the Silver Rain. There are no milkberry vines with their silvery berries forming in my backyard but there are several crocuses and other green shoots pushing up from the earth. This always is nice to see. I have just dug out my seed catalogue and I'm planning to order seeds for my garden on the island in Maine where we go in the summer.

The First Collier, the first of the three legends of Ga'Hoole, is now in bookstores and I want to thank you all for helping to make it on to the New York Times bestseller's list. This is exciting for me.

I just last month finished the last of the three legends, which cycle back in time to the very earliest days of the owls and how they came to the Great Ga'Hoole Tree. But now would you believe that this week I am about to begin a new book that is to be called (I think) The Golden Tree. Soren, Gylfie, Twilight and Digger are back in full force and the ember brought back by young Kind Coryn is beginning to have a peculiar effect on the tree and its guardians. That's all I'm going to say.

Until next month,
Good reading!
Kathryn
