Monthly letter from Kathy Lasky
Hi Ga'Hoole Readers:
The big news for me this month is that it looks like the owls are going to the movies. Warner Brothers has bought the first three books of the series to make into an animated film with computer generated images. I think that lots of the real life owls from the Harry Potter movies are going to be used. So it's back to work for those birds! And what's more they have hired me to write the screenplay. I've never in my life written a screenplay but hey that's what makes life interesting --new experiences. I bought two books on how to write screenplays.
Today as I am writing this letter coming through on my email is a letter from my editor Maria with all the corrections I have to make for the tenth book. An eight-page letter of things I did wrong or not quite good enough. You see you are not the only ones who have to re- do assignments. Let's see what her first comment is: Oh yikes! She says on page 2 I have to write a lot more to explain Soren's relationship to his young nephew.
Oh no! On page 4 she wants two introductory paragraphs to "better set the scene". This sucks! But she's probably right.
Oh gosh, I think I better stop writing this letter so I can start working on owl number ten. I have to have all these revisions done in five days.
Happy Holidays
Sincerely,
Kathryn
